How to Change Your Windshield Wipers

Windshield Wipers

Wipers are generally supposed to last up to six to twelve months, but what happens when you need to remove the blades or replace your wipers? The rubber blades can wear out over time if they are exposed to snow, ice, rain, salt, and high temperatures. If you find that your windshield wipers are no longer doing their job in the Omaha area, be sure to schedule an appointment to replace windshield wipers.

You can also order OEM parts with our parts department and have them installed at our dealership. Here are some potential causes of broken or worn down windshield wipers:

  • Cracked Rubber
  • Separated Blades
  • Screeching Noise
  • Gaps in Windshield Clearing
  • Scratches to Windshield Glass
  • Loose chunks of blade

How to Clean Windshield Wipers?

Pull the wiper and run your fingers through the wiper blades, and if you feel debris and dirt, be sure to wash it off to see if that fixes the issue. If you notice the pieces of the blade are missing, then you should get them replaced.

How Much Does it Cost to Get Your Windshield Wipers Replaced?

Windshield wipers are inexpensive to replace, especially with our parts specials. You can either install the wipers yourself or visit our service center for an installation.

If you choose to go the DIY method:

  1. Position your windshield wipers upright
  2. Pull them away from the windshield carefully
  3. Read the instructions on your windshield wiper owner’s manual and learn how to remove them. You can either depress a tab or slide it off with the wiper arm.
  4. Discard of the older wiper blades
  5. Clean the windshield thoroughly to prevent dust and debris from getting on your windshield wipers.
  6. Install the new wipers and repeat the process of step two and three.
